Located on the border of York and Adams County for over 30 years, Sheppard Farms Scotch Highland cattle are pasture raised using sustainable agricultural methods such as pasture & crop rotation. Our animals are treated humanely, freely roaming, grazing, and breeding on over 140 acres of wooded, rolling fields.

The Scotch Highlander, originally from Northern Scotland, is one of the 7 ancestral beef breeds. They have evolved to produce naturally lean and tender beef without hormones or growth stimulants. Highlanders’ heavy coats insulate them in harsh climates and reduce the need to put on surplus back fat.

By grazing on grass and other organic vegetation, our product is an all-natural beef that is well-marbled and full of flavor. A major benefit of raising animals on pasture is that their products are healthier for you. Our beef has less total fat, cholesterol, and calories. It also has more vitamins and a number of health-promoting fats, including omega-3 fatty acids. These unique features of our beef make it a healthier choice for your family and our community!
